In the Mourning

A silent weight shackles me. It is an exposed wound bearing no scar. It is unwavering, marinating shame.

As a country, we are in the height of public exposure regarding sexual assault. The media has latched onto the watchdog mentality and rapidly women have felt the strength to expose their assailants. The trend burst open with the “Weinstein Effect” and has trickled into all public arenas. And yet, even with this ardent solidarity, the victims continue to be invalidated, ignored, ridiculed, and most of all, shamed.

In the wake of an era where women must ban together, we must strip down in order to lift each other up. This project discusses one of the most uncomfortable and necessary topics in contemporary art.
